Ashland Place came about when Dwight Heard's "Los Olivos" subdivision was re-subdivided to match the demand for smaller lots.
The area was developed in the 1920's and is best known for its bungalow and period revival style homes.
Tax records show there to be 53 homes in the Ashland Place subdivision averaging a tad over 1300 sq. ft. and sitting on medium size lots in the .15 acre range.
